Tips on Walking in the Country

Gates

The greatest area of potential conflict between walker and farmer concerns gates.
The management and separation of stock is at the centre of the farmer's livelihood. Gates are fastened by different means-be sure to leave them exactly as you find them.

Dogs

All dogs must be kept on a lead through any farmland containing stock.

Greet those you meet

A stranger is only a friend that you have yet to meet

Take only photographs

Leave only footprints, kill or harm nothing but time

Safety

If you have a mobile phone, carry it with you, take some water and wear appropriate footwear
